This interesting boutique restaurant began as a small 20 seat restaurant in Royal Oak in March, 2006 and moved to the current location in 2009. It has a bar that features craft cocktails, over 60 Michigan beers and an award winning wine list from Wine Spectator Magazine. The setting in the tin-ceilinged dining room is attractively understated and amenities include cream in little pitchers, cloth napkins and a nice sense of propriety without formality. The adjoining bar opens at 5 o’clock happy-hour time, although cocktails and other beverages are certainly available any time. The restaurant got its 15 minutes of fame when Oprah Winfrey featured its sandwiches on her show. There are two adjoining dining rooms allowing for scaling to the customer load at different times of the day. Server prep is at the rear just before the kitchen entrance. The back of house is a solid kitchen with plenty of firepower for any menu. There are two walk-ins and plenty of dry storage on grade. The lower level provides plenty of additional storage.
